How wonderful that we have met with a paradox. Now we have some hope of making progress.

Our History

Goldratt Research Labs (GRL) was founded in 2007 by Dr. Alan Barnard on request of Dr. Eli Goldratt to create a research organization that can be a spearhead for new Theory of Constraints (TOC) based research, development and testing with organizations from both the private and public sector from around the globe to contribute to and accelerate the ever growing TOC body of knowledge. GRL is part of the Goldratt Group, founded in 2001, which also includes Goldratt Consulting, Goldratt Marketing and Goldratt Schools.

Our Vision

The vision of GRL is to apply a robust research, solution development, hypothesis testing and stakeholder contribution and consensus processes to further accelerate the creation and dissemination of new Theory of Constraints (TOC) based knowledge. This is achieved through win:win:win partnerships with private sector companies, other research organizations and IT providers to create new and or find innovative ways to apply existing TOC knowledge to help both private and public sector organizations achieve more in less time with the same or less resources.

These partnerships are frequently with organizations that are already considered to be the leaders within their respective industries but are searching to find, capitalize on and sustain the next step-change improvement in their continuous improvement journey.

Over the past 30 years, there have been thousands of successful case studies where TOC have been successfully applied to mainly for-profit organizations. We believe however, that the most significant contribution of TOC over the next 30 years will be its application to those for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and governments responsible for managing scarce and finite resources and which, if mismanaged, could result in major problems for society. As a research organization, we want to help apply existing and develop new TOC knowledge that can help organizations and governments in especially the developing nations to better manage these scarce and finite resources for the benefit of all.

Our Focus

GRL focuses on assisting complex private and public sector organizations to find innovative and sustainable ways to achieve more of their goal units, in less time with the same or less resources. We employ a robust research methodology that starts with quantifying the extent and system wide consequences of problems, identifying and validating root cause hypotheses, developing viable win:win solutions in collaboration with key stakeholders and testing these through "proof-of-concept" pilots. To ensure sustainability of changes, GRL can also help to audit the implementation of such changes to help overcome unexpected implementation obstacles and to assist in implementing these best practices within their IT systems.

Do you manage a COMPLEX environment and are you under pressure to DO MORE in LESS TIME with LESS RESOURCES?

Are you interested in discovering whether there could be a simple, robust solution for achieving and sustaining a step-change improvement in such an environment?

IF you answered YES and YES... you are welcome to contact Dr. Alan Barnard at alan@goldrattresearchlabs.com to discuss a possible research partnership with Goldratt Research Labs
